Seriously, don't EVER leave me alone unattended for long periods of time.

EVER.

So I'm taking my first recreational bike ride of the year (I know i know. but I've been working a LOT so I haven't had the time or the energy.) and Ive got my 5k camera bag strapped to my back with my headphones blaring. I'm coasting downhill towards the river valley. It's pelican season and I want pictures. What better way to get them than with a telephoto lens and 2 whole rolls of film to fuck with?
Now this hill is pretty freaking steep, rolling don to a 4 way stop. I decide, ya know what? I'm already going WAAAAAAAAAAAAY too fast from gravity and less than perfect brakes so I really don't want to take the river valley route (which is even further downhill. More down equals MORE speed. No thanx.) so maybe I'll just cut across the grass to take the right hand path so I dont have to pull a 90 degree turn at 30 miles per hour on a thin tired city bike.

Now you should be able to see this coming.

I saw it coming.

Hell, I FELT it coming.

But some part of my music riddled brain is going "DUUUURRRRR we can make turn! Its only grass!"

Just as I come onto the grass, my rear tire fishtails sideways, my front tire smokes the dirt and twists to the side, and down I go.
At 30 miles an hour.
Sideways.
Into the paved bike path I was aiming for.

I saved my head by curling up. It was pure instinct. Left arm shot out (hand up to avoid the ever so lovely gravel in palm problem) to keep shoulders and head off ground, hips turned to save my poor already abused back.
My right leg wasn't so lucky. My ankle looks like it got in a fight with a squirrel and lost (It'll live. It's not that bad.) and I -think- my bike slammed my knee into the ground cuz I can't really walk on it now. My arm, somehow by some great grace of luck, doesn't have a mark on it, despite taking the full force of the fall.

BUT!!!!
The camera and my cd player LIVE! Not a dent! Not a scratch!
TAKE THAT MOTHER NATURE!!!! MUAAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!

I win.

UPDATE
------

Ok so its been a day. I can no longer walk unaided and sleeping is an adventure. So I'm home. Alone. AND BORED.

It's not Eve's fault she ate the apple. It's God's fault for putting the tree there in the first place.
